Jeff's Bio
Jeff's been involved with polka basically since he was born. His dad, Orv played with polka bands from high school on. Playing with Duke Wright to start and in the late 60's to mid 70's with Duke Wright and the "Nu Tones". Jeff got his start from his Dad and also from his Grandpa Orv, who played with Eddie Olshanski and "The Metropolitons". Jeff was very fortunate to fill in for both of these bands in the 70's. JoAnn, Jeff's mom, played the piano and dragged the family along to Orv's playing jobs..
Jeff has two brothers, Mark and Corey. Mark is also a musician, playing with the "Nu Tones", "Band Boys", Jerry Goetsch and also with The Polka Partners. He now plays regularly with The Jim Busta Band and Gary's Ridgeland Dutchmen. Corey, well, he's a polka "wanna-be" and just likes listening to the music. Jeff's first dance job was with his brother Mark, and Brian Barnetske when he was nine years old. Through the years he filled in for many bands, his main two were, "The Band Boys" and his current band "Neal Zunker and The Music Connection". He's played with this band for over twenty-five years. Jeff has been married over 22 years. He and his wife have two wonderful boys, Alex (18) and Nicholas (15), and "Buddy" their dog. (He is a border collie/black lab mix) Diane works at Aspirus Hospital in Central billing and helps out with requests on the Polka Jamboree on occasion. Alex enjoys watching football, baseball,fishing, bow & arrow and is turning out to be quite the hunter bagging four bucks in the last 4 years, all 8 pointers or bigger. He also just bagged his first bear almost 250 lbs. He also went to state and nationals for trap shooting. Nicholas, enjoys watching movies, baseball,football, fishing, swimming, archery, basketball and also went to the state and national trap shoot this year. Nicholas also has a few deer to his name and enjoys the outdoors. He loves helping his dad out on Sunday's with requests and just loves the polish polka music. He's also sat in on the drums with The Music Conection, Polka Family and John Gora.. And yes, they both do enjoy polkas and texting on their cell phones.
Jeff is in Sales at WDEZ Radio in Wausau(715)842-1672, and has another radio show on our sister station Newsradio 550 WSAU on Saturday Mornings from 9:00-10:00AM. Now you can also listen to Jeff on 247 Polka Heaven on the internet 4 times a week. 247 Polka Heaven is a 24 hour, 7 day a week polka internet show. He is Past President of the Wausau Noon Optimists and a past board member of WATEA (Wisconsin Automotive and Truck Education Board). Jeff also is Master of Ceremony for many banquets including the Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited and Whitetails Unlimited. He enjoys hunting, fishing going to the casino, working, going to the Brickyard Saloon, The Chatterbox, Klucks and spending time with his family and shooting trap with Alex and Nicholas.
